Environmental responsibility at Disneyland Paris
Our commitment to the environment
As a creator of stories that inspire current and future generations, the environment is taken into account in every decision we make, so we can create a unique and magical experience while passing on a positive and sustainable legacy to future generations.
Managing water resources responsibly
Intent on preserving the balance of the local ecosystem and ensuring the beauty of the Disney Parks, we are committed to managing water responsibly.
Between 2012 and 2023 there has been a 21% reduction in water consumption
4 million m³ of drinking water has been saved since 2013
Wastewater treatment
In 2013, Disneyland Paris became the first theme park in Europe to install its own wastewater treatment plant. The plant collects up to 3,500 m3 of wastewater per day from the two Disney Parks, purifies and treats it to produce clean, quality water used to clean the roads, irrigate flowerbeds and feed our ponds. Find out more about our water management
Materials, waste management and circular economy
By reducing the amount of waste we produce and recycling it, we aim to reduce the loss of biodiversity, pollution and greenhouse gases. We have developed a number of more circular economy collaborations to offer you new and innovative solutions.
Costume recycling
To minimize our environmental footprint, we have implemented a recycling policy to reuse the fabrics of worn and damaged costumes to give them a second life. Recycling bins have been set up backstage to send the costumes to local ESATs (Etablissement et Service d’Aide par le Travail), where they are then transformed into insulating felt. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
We strive to reduce our emissions by identifying ways to improve energy efficiency, reduce our consumption and implement major renewable energy projects.
18% of annual heating needs are covered by geothermal energy
We are gradually replacing the bulbs in attractions, outdoor decorations, night-time shows, Disney Hotels, etc. with LEDs.
Europe's largest solar canopy plant
The Guest Car Park is home to Europe's largest solar canopy plant. Developed in partnership with the French company Urbasolar, the solar canopy power plant produces around 36GWh per year - enough to power a town of 17,400 inhabitants! It reduces CO2 emissions by 890 tonnes a year in the Val d'Europe area. Find out more about our emission reduction
Promoting travel with a limited environmental impact
Making public transportation more accessible with our Official Partner, SNCF Connect
Thanks to our partnership with SNCF Connect, we promote the use of transportation methods with a limited environmental impact. Taking the train in France, for example, reduces CO2e emissions by an average of 90%* compared to an equivalent journey by car or plane. Visitors can easily plan their trip to Disneyland Paris by train or public transport in just a few clicks, directly on our website!
Encouraging biodiversity
We demonstrate our commitment by implementing strategies to conserve and restore natural habitats on our sites, and by raising awareness of the significance of preserving biodiversity among our Guests and Cast Members.
30,000 trees, 300,000 shrubs, 20 varieties of fruit trees
450 hectares of green spaces, including 7,400 m² of flowerbeds
How nature comes to life at our Disney Hotels
The 245 m² vegetable garden at Disney Hotel Cheyenne grows many varieties of organic vegetables, fruit and herbs that may end up on your plate if you are a Guest there. Both Disney Hotel Cheyenne and Disney Davy Crockett Ranch offer a nature trail where you can discover the rose and vegetable gardens, flower meadows, the heritage orchard and an apiary!
Eco-grazing
We practice eco-grazing in our backstage areas and at Disney Davy Crockett Ranch. Every year, 5 to 7 hectares of land are grazed by a French breed of sheep. Find out more about how we preserve biodiversity Disneyland Paris is committed to continuous improvement in its environmental practices. We are always looking for innovative ways to reduce our ecological footprint and provide our guests with a magical experience that is also responsible.
